2 Victorian Sterling Silver Cauldron Salt Cellars. These gorgeous salt cellars are made from sterling silver by the noted silversmith, Josiah Williams & Co. They are of cauldron form and stand on 3 hoof feet. The bodies have been exquisitely and deeply chased with scrolls and flora and not embossed as is often the case. The cartouches to the front are engraved with an armorial crest depicting a mythical creature. The rims have a fine line of beading and the interiors are richly gilded. They are hallmarked for London 1885 with the maker’s mark of George Maudsley Jackson of Josiah Williams & Co. Both cellars are in beautiful condition and the decorative detail is nice and crisp.
